JoAnne Houlsen

“From the Real to the Abstract” These images are microcosms of larger paintings I have done in the past. I selected areas of a painting that I felt reflected the larger painting as a whole. The images became quite abstracted, some more than others, in so much as the original image has become obscured.

Her work is driven by a love of nature, pattern and experimentation with new techniques and materials.

This is a nature based series using a variety of materials including oil, cold wax and gold leaf.
